Internet challenge launched
An Internet governance challenge has been launched as part of an initiative by Nominet, the UK's Department of Trade and Industry, and key Parliamentarians, to create a UK Internet Governance Forum, reports PublicTechnology.net.
Unveiled by Margaret Hodge, UK minister for Industry and Regions, the Best Practice Challenge 2007 will recognise organisations, groups or individuals that have worked to deliver a safer, more accessible, diverse Internet experience.
Winning entries will be exhibited in the UK and at the Internet Governance Forum meeting in Rio de Janeiro in November 2007. Deadline for entries is 31 July 2007.
SOA requires governance
Organisations that choose to adopt service-oriented architecture (SOA) realise that governance must be established quickly in order to manage a successful SOA programme, according to InfoQ.
However, this has been difficult to establish successfully in many organisations for a variety of reasons, says Ed Vazquez, MomentumSI's VP of SOA business innovations.
To understand SOA governance - and how it can be successfully initiated in an enterprise - there must be a clear understanding and definition of enterprise SOA governance principles and an operational, holistic SOA governance model. These will provide the necessary foundation towards more advanced governance activities, explains Vasquez.
AmberPoint releases SOA governance
AmberPoint has announced the next release of its runtime governance solutions for service-oriented architecture systems, reports ebizQ.
The version 6 releases of AmberPoint's SOA management system and SOA validation system deliver vital new capabilities for understanding and controlling heterogeneous applications.
In response to customer feedback, AmberPoint says it has introduced new capabilities to facilitate greater visibility of network topology; enhanced control through throttling policies which regulate use; maintaining control through validation of business applications; simplified automation; and expanded platform support.
