Cloud storage partnership formed

South River Technologies, an innovator in secure file transfer and collaboration software, has formed a technology partnership with ParaScale, a cloud storage software company, according to PR-USA.

The partnership provides a complete standards-based solution for accessing in the cloud.

SRT's WebDrive, a universal file access client, facilitates access to files on remote servers while ParaScale's Cloud Storage software enables companies and service providers to build large storage clouds that can be accessed remotely.

EMC profit drops

EMC, maker of storage computers, posted a 20% drop in first-quarter profit because companies curbed spending on their machines to save money amid the recession, reports Bloomberg.

Sales fell for the first time in six years, declining 9.2% to $3.15 billion and missing the $3.26 billion average estimate of analysts in a Bloomberg survey.

Technology spending won't improve this quarter, though it “has reached or is very near the bottom,” EMC says.

Compellent supports vSphere

Compellent Technologies' storage area network Compellent Storage Centre supports VMware vSphere, according to PR-USA.

VMware vSphere is the industry's first cloud operating system, transforming centres into dramatically simplified cloud infrastructures to enable the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services.

By supporting VMware vSphere, Compellent Technologies can further extend the value of Compellent Storage Centre into customers' next-generation data centres and enable customers to manage large collections of infrastructure.
