Zoho, a US-based business applications company, aims to expand the conventional project management space with collaborative features in its latest solution, Zoho Projects 2.0.
This version of the company's online project management and team collaboration solution focuses on sharing input throughout project development.
“Planning and reporting is just one facet of working on a project,” says Rodrigo Vaca, director of marketing at Zoho, in a statement. “More than anything, teams need a tool that supports the collaboration needed to successfully execute their projects.
“We designed Zoho Projects 2.0 to be a project utility where users across the office and around the world can work together on their projects, providing a place to keep all their files, chat, wiki, forums, and other materials.”
Zoho says it differs from other project management solutions because Zoho Projects 2.0 allows users to go beyond project planning to project completion. To that end, Zoho has integrated multiple Zoho services that enhance team collaboration.
Some of the features include Project Stream, which gives users a visual representation of the latest activities pertaining to their project, and Project Dashboard, which offers an at-a-glance view of upcoming tasks and milestones. Also, a Twitter-like interface allows users to securely publish their latest update to their entire team.
Regarding the social aspect of the solution, Zoho emphasises the teamwork element. “We realise that getting work done is less about the work or 'the plan', and more about the people that work to make that plan happen - and how they make it happen,” says the company.
