Beget Holdings, listed on the JSE`s Venture Capital Market, says it will report a profit for the six months to June, reversing the R0.5 million loss it made for the same period last year.
CEO Andre Potgieter says the turnaround is the result of the global launch of the company`s GPRS-enabled devices, which last month began to translate into increased revenue streams.
The group says no research and development expenditure was capitalised in the period. In the six months to June last year, the group capitalised research and development of R250 000.
Beget has also issued a cautionary notice saying it is in talks around a pending deal, the details of which have not been disclosed.
Potgieter says the group expects an eventful six months ahead, with a number of potential deals to enhance its service and product offering.
He adds that he is pleased with the international sales of the group`s MobileBIO biometric identity and access device, which allows organisations to monitor employee activity remotely.
"Our European distributor has to date sold units in France, Germany and Belgium with further European countries in the pipeline, and negotiations have begun with companies in the Americas and Australia."
The Beget share price closed unchanged at 6c yesterday.
