TomTom covers SA

TomTom, navigation solutions provider, has announced the availability of the TomTom ONE and TomTom ONE XL portable navigation devices available with southern Africa maps.

The company says both models will include a map of southern Africa, covering SA, Namibia, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

According to the company, both devices will include free QuickGPSfix and fast route calculation. TomTom says there is an additional Afrikaans language voice available for download.

Aside from coverage of major towns and cities, almost all secondary and interconnecting roads can now be accessed.

The TomTom ONE is the company's lightweight, entry-level portable navigation device which weighs 174g. The recommended selling price of the device is R3 499.

TomTom ONE XL has a 4.3-inch screen, which the company says allows for more detailed viewable information on screen. According to TomTom, the price for the XL is R4 499.

TomTom says users can access TomTom HOME, the company's free software application used to plan routes, download voices and install maps on the TomTom devices from their PCs.
