Internal corporate threats sniffed out

Johannesburg, 19 Jun 2007

Unscrupulous staff members in all South African companies and organisations have been dealt a major blow.

Leading enterprise risk management company Magix Integration has just announced the availability of specialised insider threat detection software, Intellinx Version 3.

The latest version of Intellinx will now offer investigative case management capabilities in addition to tracking user behaviour in internal business applications across multiple platforms.

"As the threat from internal sources grows in South African businesses and organisations, responsible management need to take the appropriate steps to protect their brands and intellectual capital," says Amir Lubashevsky, director of Magix Integration. "The non-invasive monitoring of all staff members across the board is becoming one of the most important facets in the fight against dishonest employees and users."

Intellinx Version 3 is an end-to-end enterprise level solution for detecting internal fraud and information leakage. It captures and analyses user activity traffic from the network across multiple platforms, reconstructs user screens and keystrokes, identifies business transactions performed, tracks user behaviour patterns and generates alerts on exceptions in real-time. The new case management function allows fraud investigation teams to effectively manage the organisational process of internal investigations from alerts prioritisation and review to workload balancing.

Accessing the Intellinx repository of recorded data and behaviour indicators, investigators can analyse the activity of suspicious users and compare and correlate it to the behaviour of their peers. The system maintains the history of each case including activities, notes, attachment files, relevant alerts and related cases.

Intellinx also detects and alerts supervisors to situations requiring intervention, such as cases not handled within an appropriate timeframe, or tasks that require reassignment when investigators are out of office ill or on vacation. The knowledge-base of investigated cases maintained by the system can be used for refining business rules to reduce false-positive rates. Organisations maintain the flexibility to utilise all or some of the Intellinx capabilities, as the system enables integration with third-party or in-house case management systems.

"We are proud to present the breakthrough in insider threat protection and to respond to the evolving needs of our customers," says Orna Mintz-Dov, Intellinx Ltd founder and CEO. "The release of Intellinx Version 3 responds to those needs by providing the first comprehensive, end-to-end solution to insider threat available today."

Financial, government and healthcare enterprises worldwide utilise Intellinx to hold end-users accountable for their actions. The system obtains detailed forensic audit trails of the activities of all end-user types, including business users, privileged IT users and employees, as well as partners and customers. All access to corporate data is recorded and is available for playback, including update and read-only transactions. The Intellinx audit trail enables compliance with government regulations, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel 2, GLBA and HIPAA.

Based on patent-pending sniffing technology, the Intellinx agent-less architecture generates no overhead and poses no risk to normal IT operation. The implementation process is very short (typically just a few hours) as the system runs on a separate server with no need to install anything on host or clients and with no need to change any organisation's application code.
