Sybase has unveiled a market analytics software platform designed for high-volume, high-velocity trading environments. The software is available locally.
RAP - The Trading Edition is claimed to be the first commercially available solution that can handle combined analytics requirements. The company says it allows capital market firms to make more informed trading, risk and portfolio decisions, while lowering risk through timelier, more comprehensive market insight.
"The capital markets industry thrives on data," says Rudi Leibbrandt, Sybase practice manager at Sybase SA.
"The competitive-edge created through faster and deeper analysis of market data is coming under increasing pressure, as firms must now compete in an environment of increased complexity and exponential growth in trade volumes, where every millisecond matters."
According to Leibbrandt, the platform enables capital market firms to capture and consolidate large volumes of market data feeds by storing numerous years of trade and similar data in real-time. It compresses stored data by up to 70% and is capable of storing up to terabytes of data, while delivering 10 to 100 times faster analytics performance than traditional data management platforms, he explains.
Leibbrandt says by using the software, various parties that handle market data, for example traders, quantitative analysts, portfolio managers, risk managers and compliance officers, can work from the same page.
Internationally, financial services institutions such as Mitsubishi UFJ Securities International have already adopted the software.
