MTN subscribers can now select an audio clip that their callers will hear while waiting for them to answer the phone.

The cellular provider launched CallerTunez, which replaces the normal "ring ring" sound the caller hears, in Sandton last night.

All CallerTunez cost R5 and for a promotional period MTN subscribers can try the for free, by setting the track Candy Shop from 50 Cent as their audio clip. This offer is available until 13 December.

Any on the MTN network can get CallerTunez as it is not limited to specific cellphone capabilities. Customers can select from 55 CallerTunez from a number of genres, including music, celebrity voices and ambient sounds.

"All CallerTunez are standard sound files, which means the 50 Cent track you hear on the radio is exactly what resounds in your caller`s ear should you set this as your CallerTunez," says MTN marketing manager, Donovan Smith.

When a CallerTunez is purchased it entitles the customer to three months` usage. If during that period, another audio clip is purchased, it will be stored in an album that can store up to five audio clips, he says.

"MTN is working with local artists, whose music can be downloaded. We are also in continuous discussion with other local artists who are not yet part of the CallerTunez selection."

To activate and manage CallerTunez, MTN subscribers must phone 083 123 686.
