MarPless Communication Technologies, a joint venture between Plessey and Japanese group Marubeni, has suspended chief operating officer Bertie Grobler.
Although there has been no official comment from the company, a staff member confirmed this morning that Grobler was "on suspension".
The company, an information and telecoms equipment and systems supplier, was founded as a joint venture in 1993. Marubeni, a general trading company, holds a 51% stake, while Plessey SA owns the balance.
MarPless CEO Kiyotaku Satu was in a meeting this morning and could not be reached for comment.
According to sources, Grobler was sent a letter informing him only that he had been suspended "pending further investigation", with no allegations listed in the letter.
Grobler could not be reached for comment.
