SYSTIMAX Labs has been - and will continue to be - an integral driving force within the cabling standards and IEEE Task Force. Much progress has been made towards defining the cabling channel requirements to support 10GBASE-T over new as well as existing cabling. Although clarity has improved, we believe a number of remaining questions must be answered before "guarantees" can be made with confidence and credibility. SYSTIMAX Labs has been at the forefront of establishing these requirements and pushing them to consensus.
SYSTIMAX Labs is also developing a UTP cabling solution to support 10GBASE-T over 100 meter 4-connector channels. We believe that it has the most sophisticated modeling and design tools in the industry to help optimize the development of a market leading solution. SYSTIMAX Labs' objective is to provide a next generation total solution that will support the future bandwidth needs of enterprises, particularly data centers and other such application-rich companies.
SYSTIMAX Labs has determined the set of requirements that it believes are needed to meet this objective. Many of these requirements have already been adopted in IEEE and enjoy wide industry consensus. The key targets, as determined by SYSTIMAX Labs for this new cabling channel specification, are listed below:
* IEEE Model #1 for Insertion Loss and ANEXT for 100 meter 4-connector channel performance
* Extrapolation of all Category 6/Class E channel performance requirements to 625 MHz
* Complete 100 meter 4-connector channel solution tested with sophisticated system-level tools that allow the modeling of worst case configurations for all parameters
* Evolutionary improvements in component design and performance
* Complete cabling system design and installation instructions
* Installation-friendly components (including high density apparatus and traditional round shape cable)
* Channel performance verification by laboratory and field testing instruments SYSTIMAX Labs is developing a next generation UTP solution to achieve these goals.
SYSTIMAX Labs philosophy has been one of understanding, developing and refining cabling technology to unmatched levels in the industry. SYSTIMAX Labs' 10GBASE-T development is no different. SYSTIMAX Labs intends to launch a best-in-class complete and robust cabling system designed for 10GBASE-T in the 3rd quarter of 2004.
