3Com (UK) Ltd has launched a free technology assessment service called e-audit that will assist SMEs in understanding how the adoption of technology in today`s Internet age can optimise business functions and create efficiency in their operations.
Developed for business leaders within companies who may not be big enough to sustain a dedicated IT manager, e-audit works in two phases. The first, an interactive computer-based tool takes company decision-makers through a series of critical business questions to establish where their business is headed and what technology capabilities their company could benefit from. The second, a report, provides tailored sets of recommendations that, if followed, will enable a company to compete and thrive in a digital economy.
Announcing the initiative, Debbie Hunter, 3Com marketing manager, commented: "With the e-audit initiative, 3Com is taking the lead in simplifying technology for SMEs - by talking to company leaders about what they want to achieve as a business rather than throwing complex technology terms at them, e-audit demystifies e-business.
People don`t need to know how technology works, they want to know what it does for them. E-audit will help many companies to benchmark the efficiency of their current systems and identify opportunities to use technology to improve their profitability.`
