3Com offers customers the chance to boost networks with massive gigabit discounts

3Com Corporation today announced it is offering customers an unprecedented opportunity to upgrade to a feature-rich Gigabit network at a greatly reduced cost.

Customers who buy a 3Com Gigabit switch from an accredited 3Com reseller between 2 June and 13 July can enjoy massive rebates of up to 40% off the list price for switches and 50% on modules. 3Com`s SuperStack 3 Switch 4900 family and 3Com Switch 4060 and 4050 are included in the promotion.

"Upgrading to a Gigabit network increases the speed of the network so employees can access information more efficiently, and enables a company to make full use of bandwidth-intensive applications such as customer relationship management or e-learning," said Stanimira Koleva, channel sales director, 3Com International. "With this Gigabit promotion, we are offering our customers the opportunity to relieve the hindrance of network bottlenecks at aggressive prices, without compromising on functionality."

The 3Com Gigabit switches incorporate the 3Com XRN technology, which enables organisations to build resilient network cores and pay for their network as they grow. The promotion is welcomed by 3Com`s resellers, which will be able to offer customers a significant discount and boost their Gigabit sales.

These pricing rebates complement 3Com`s ongoing channel programme "Gigabit Boost" which has been running since September 2002, where 3Com is supporting resellers with rebates on the sale of Gigabit products.

The offer coincides with the 30th anniversary of the invention of Ethernet, pioneered by 3Com founder, Robert Metcalfe. Since 3Com was formed in 1984, it has shipped over 3.3 billion Ethernet connections worldwide.
