Following the recent appointment of Q Data Distribution as 3Com SA`s third distributor in the country, the two companies last week presented the `convergent networks` concept to their channel partners.
Paul Ruinaard, pre-sales manager at 3Com, outlined the alliance between 3Com, Siemens and Newbridge CSi aimed at bringing an integrated solutions package relating to voice, video and data called converged networks to the consumer.
Ruinaard said converged networks offer a single network infrastructure supporting a dynamic mix of data, voice and video applications. While convergence could take place in both the LAN or theWAN, Ruinaard said converged networks would emerge in the WAN first.
Buddie Ceroni, 3Com SA regional manager, said 3Com will soon be making more announcement in the area of convergence.
