3Com`s Kerbango Internet radio clinches awards at 2001 International Consumer Electronics Show

3Com Corporation`s Kerbango , the world`s first standalone Internet radio appliance, has won two key awards at the recent 2001 International Consumer Electronic Show in the US, including the "Best of Show`` award and a Dealerscope Magazine`s "Editors` Choice`` Award.

"The awards are particularly meaningful, because user-friendly hardware and design were so critical in creating the first device that will make Internet radio as convenient and pervasive as traditional radio,`` says Buddie Ceronie, 3Com general manager (sub-Saharan Africa).

"The Kerbango Internet radio is poised to take its place in today`s digital homes, offering people the pleasure of listening to Internet radio from around the world,`` he says.

The Kerbango Internet radio lets users tune to thousands of streaming audio sites separated into categories such as music, news, sports, talk and more. This stand-alone Internet appliance is truly PC free, requiring only a broadband Internet connection and power.

With Internet tuning capability, stereo speakers, AM/FM tuner, alarm clock, and stereo RCA jacks, the Kerbango radio provides a convenient audio listening centre for home or work. It is scheduled to be available in South Africa in mid-2001.
