An emotional video showcasing an unusual application of 3D printing went viral this weekend.

Advances in 4D ultrasound technologies have seen impressive foetus imaging results for expectant mothers; however, women who are visually impaired do not have the same opportunity to experience what their unborn child looks like.

Huggies Brazil developed a campaign that involved printing out 3D images of unborn children using the ultrasound image, and surprising blind women with the experience.

The Mother's Day video, featuring heavily pregnant Tatiana Guerra, who has been blind since she was a teenager, went viral this weekend and has had over 8.7 million views.

The video features the 30-year-old having an ultrasound done and excitedly asking her doctor what her unborn son looks like, and whether he has her nose and chin.

A 3D printer was set up in the next room, and within 15 minutes of having the ultrasound done, the doctor presented Guerra with a package. In it, the face of her child was revealed on a block, with the words: "I am your son" written in Braille across the top.

The moment was also captured and shared globally through several tweets.

Viral Nova reported Huggies Brazil collaborated with agency Mood and designers The Goodfellas to create the video.

The campaign also included a video of another blind mother who was able to experience what her unborn daughter looks like through 3D printing technology. This video has had more than 31 000 views since publishing.
