3D kiosk tech patent approved
Provision Interactive Technologies has developed technology to provide 3D views of products for the self-service kiosk markets, according to Self-Service World.
Provision received a notice of allowance by the US Patent and Trademark Office for its 3D holographic product, known as 'HoloVision'. Originally filed in 2005, the patent called 'System and Method for Dispensing Consumer Products' protects vending machines and product dispensing kiosks when integrated with Provision's 3D displays.
"Imagine a 3D person greeting you when you conduct an ATM transaction or being able to have a 3D view of a product before you buy it," said Curt Thornton, CEO of Provision. "This patent allows us to control that experience in this growing market."
Hotel chain implements Ariane Systems
Ariane Systems, a player in self-service check-in/out technology for the hospitality industry, says that Nordic Choice Hotels has implemented its Allegro Online/Mobile/Kiosk check-in solution, states More RFID.
Through Ariane's AllegroWeb-based platform, guests are invited to check in prior to arrival using the Allegro Web/mobile check-in platform. By simply clicking on the link received by e-mail or SMS on their preferred Web-enabled device, such as personal computer, laptop, PDA, cellphone or iPad, guests can set up an automatic check-in time, manage room preferences, update their profile, and pre-pay online with a choice of payment options.
On the day of arrival, guests receive another e-mail/SMS with their room number and options on how to access the room, either via OpenWays Mobile Key - using their personal cellphone to go straight to their room and activate the door lock - or by obtaining an RFID keycard through Ariane's self-service check-in/out kiosks.
Scala powers touch display kiosks
Scala, a digital-signage and advertising-management solutions provider, says its software is powering a touch interactive ordering system at holyfields restaurants in Germany, says QSR Web.
According to Scala, holyfields partnered with Newroom Media and the Ippolito Fleitz Group to develop user-friendly self-service kiosks, with the goal of creating a digital ordering system to speed up the ordering process.
To order a meal, a customer simply selects his or her preferred food and drink on one of the kiosks and then proceeds to a cashier. They receive pagers that will alert them from their tables when food is ready for pick-up.
