3G-based business continuity unveiled
Lucent Technologies and Top Global have developed a business continuity wireless gateway solution to help enterprises cost-effectively backup and recover their wireline network in the event of a natural disaster or other disruption, 3G reports.
The solution addresses both business continuity and disaster recovery.
Top Global`s MobileBridge mobile/portable wireless communications gateway receives technical and integration support from Lucent`s services organisation. MobileBridge functions as a gateway that connects a client`s private data network to any service provider`s cellular data network.
Hitachi enhances universal storage platform
Hitachi Data Systems has announced enhancements to the Hitachi TagmaStore universal storage platform (USP), SW Business reports.
Hitachi claims the enhancements include a 25% boost to overall system performance, delivering 2.5 million input-output operations per second of maximum power. The boosted USP has the ability to make critical applications such as Oracle Financials and Microsoft SQL Server run at peak velocity, while improving the performance of virtualised tiered storage environments.
The USP simplifies business continuity by offering multi-protocol consolidation within a single storage services platform managed from a single, integrated console.
New Orleans firm ups disaster recovery
In response to the devastating effects of the 2005 hurricane season, New Orleans law firm Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann has implemented Neverfail`s disaster recovery software, reports Chron.
Prior to implementing Neverfail, Stone Pigman relied on tape backup to protect its data. Due to the unreliability of tape backup technology, the company chose to implement Exchange, SQL and File Server Neverfail solutions.
Neverfail`s solution will protect Stone Pigman`s applications and sensitive legal data in advance of the four to six "major" storms predicted to become hurricanes of category three strength or higher as forecast by the National Hurricane Centre for the upcoming 2006 hurricane season.
