3i Infotech targets process manufacturing market
3i Infotech has acquired FormulaWare, a US-based software company which provides a robust enterprise resource planning solution for the process manufacturing industry, with special emphasis on the chemical and paint segments, the company announced.
FormulaWare has been providing business management software for over 25 years. Its flagship product, Product Formulation Manufacturing, combines database technology with software designed to meet specific requirements of manufacturers of formulated products.
"We believe the acquisition further strengthens our product placement by providing software solutions for the entire range of small to medium size enterprises," said V Srinivasan, MD and CEO, 3i Infotech. "We look forward to extending our offering to meet the specific enterprise planning needs of the lubricants, paints, inks and glues process manufacturing industries."
Intel opens wafer manufacturing facility in Arizona
Intel has re-opened a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing facility in Chandler, Arizona, converting it to a leading-edge 300mm, 65nm process factory, the company announced.
Called Fab 12, the factory is Intel`s second volume-production fab using 65nm process technology produced on the industry`s largest wafer size (300mm), which provides the Intel fab with the potential to generate the world`s highest microprocessor output at the lowest cost.
"The re-opening of Fab 12 marks a first for Intel and the semiconductor industry," said Bob Baker, senior VP, GM, Intel Technology and Manufacturing Group. "The conversion of an existing factory to leading-edge technology - both larger wafer size and most advanced semiconductor technology - further adds to Intel`s manufacturing capability and improves our ability to better serve our customers."
The Fab 12 conversion project, which began in 2004 and cost roughly $2 billion, was completed in approximately 18 months. Fab 12 is Intel`s fifth fab using 300mm wafers.
