6th Sense Analytics now tracks entire software development lifecycle for Microsoft Windows users

6th Sense Analytics unveils new version of its award-winning solution for outsourced software development projects

Morrisville, North Carolina, 03 Dec 2007

6th Sense Analytics today launched the latest version of its award-winning software solution, which provides unbiased data and metrics into the status of outsourced software development projects. The solution's recent release gives unprecedented visibility into the entire software development lifecycle via an operating system sensor, which tracks 100% desktop time for computers running Microsoft Windows (XP, Vista and Server 2003).

"System integrators, development outsource providers, and both ISVs and enterprises that outsource development can use 6th Sense's approach to gain a sharper, clearer picture of the entire software development lifecycle," said Dana Gardner, principal analyst at Interarbor Solutions. "This type of visibility is increasingly valuable as the software development ecology goes global, and where teams - and even individual team members - can be spread across multiple time zones."

The latest version of the 6th Sense Analytics solution also includes:

* Default rule and activity sets: Provides users with a starting framework for attributing time into applicable categories.
* Attribution engine: Gives users flexibility in classifying their data by allowing them to define their activities,
systems, and projects as well as create and rank rules for attributing time to those categories.
* Tailored category and systems reports: Includes user-defined values and reflects attribution engine so there is uniformity in tracking and reporting.

The 6th Sense Analytics solution automatically and unobtrusively collects metrics via lightweight sensors residing on team members' desktops and shared repositories (such as source code management and ticketing systems).

"Our new operating system sensor accurately reflects the dynamic and multi-faceted work habits of software development teams worldwide. Today, developers are using Web browsers and other collaborative tools that fall outside integrated development environments. In addition, 6th Sense's attribution engine ensures that the collected data reflects a team's individual business and processes," said Todd Olson, co-founder and CTO of 6th Sense Analytics.
