Pretoria-based Saab Grintek has donated R75 000 towards the Tshepong Stimulation Centre in Katlehong.
Established in 1982, the Tshepong Stimulation Centre caters for children suffering with severe intellectual disabilities who live in Kathorus and the surrounding communities.
The objective of Saab Grintek's social investment programme is to empower people and improve their quality of life, without giving direct handouts.
"We are proud to be associated with the Tshepong Stimulation Centre and of the positive impact this will have on the lives of the young children," said Banele Kunene, CSI manager at Saab Grintek.
"We are impressed with the amount of dedication and personal sacrifice that is demonstrated by the staff at the institution. Our contribution to Tshepong reflects one of Saab Grintek's core values - that of humanity, 'Ubuntu'," continued Kunene.
With the support from Saab Grintek, the centre will be in a position to provide reading material and furniture for the youngsters in its care.
The centre provides care and stimulation for the children, as well as information and support for their families.
In addition to counselling services, the Tshepong Stimulation Centre provides a full programme which includes:
* Feeding and toilet training
* Speech and language
* Fine and gross motor skills
* Self-help
* Art therapy
"Saab Grintek has supported this project before and we strongly believe that we are making a difference in the lives of these children and the community," concluded Kunene.
