Incito, the Supply Chain integrator for the AST Group, has signed a Licence Agreement with FreightMatrix Africa, a joint venture between e-Freight and FreightMatrix Inc., a subsidiary of NASDAQ listed i2 Technologies. i2 Technologies is a leading global supplier of Supply Chain software solutions. The agreement is the first of its kind in Africa and one of very few internationally. This represents a strategic step forward for Incito in terms of their offering to clients. FreightMatrix provides access to i2`s logistics planning, optimisation and management solutions via a web-based interface.
The apparent inability of most companies to extract the value contained within their supply chains can largely be attributed to their inability to capture and harness the information required to enable the integrated management of events across the Supply Chain. For this reason the panacea to the unlocking of Supply Chain value, predictability, has remained out of reach. "For value to be extracted from the supply chain, all the collaborative entities have to be informed of events across the entire supply chain, which in today`s world often span the globe," explains Johan Stumpf, MD of Incito.
"You cannot effectively manage without timeous information and this agreement will enable us to extract the value contained in our clients` supply chains by making relevant information visible to collaborators across the supply chain. Added to our integration ability, attained through our berth in the AST fold, and our strong operational bias, FreightMatrix`s solution enables us to effectively leverage technology and information to the benefit of our clients and thereby brings us closer to getting supply chains to behave in a predictable manner," adds Stumpf.

Incito is currently implementing the FreightMatrix solution at a South African client and is involved in advanced negotiations aimed at supplying an industry-specific global solution, built primarily around the capabilities provided by FreightMatrix.
