During an event held last night in Rivonia, Buddie Ceronie bid farewell to his position as 3Com country manager of sub-Saharan Africa, handing the baton over to Chris van Niekerk.

Ceronie, who is moving to England, has accepted responsibility for 3Com`s operations in Eastern Europe, Russia, emerging Mediterranean countries, the Middle East and Africa.

Ceronie and his family are planning to move within the next 10 to 14 days for his first overseas assignment.

"I am very grateful for the opportunities that this country has given to me." He says he chose England as his base of operations as it is where "I could make best contribution, and my team could make the best contribution, to my customers and partners".

Ceronie notes that his areas of responsibility have much in common with SA, with many of them undergoing a similar telecoms deregulation process.
