First Digital took Transnet from an honest read of its digital maturity to an executive-aligned transformation roadmap, then helped embed it with targeted skills and change programmes.
The challenge
Transnet wanted to modernise, but first it needed a clear-eyed picture of where it actually stood. Its digital capability was spread unevenly across skills, technology and ways of working, and there was no single roadmap tying strategic intent to the practical steps that would get the organisation there. It engaged First Digital to assess that maturity, prioritise the gaps and turn the ambition into something executives could fund and the business could adopt.
The approach
First Digital ran a structured three-phase engagement. The first phase was a full assessment of Transnet’s skills, technology and operating model, so the conversation started from evidence rather than assumption. The second turned that into a prioritised transformation roadmap, sequencing the capability and technology gaps against Transnet’s business objectives so the most important work came first. The third moved from plan to adoption, aligning executives behind the strategy and running targeted training and change programmes to embed the new capabilities across the organisation.
