A sporty take on computing: AOpen introduces XC Cube EX915 Sporty

Johannesburg, 24 May 2005

Aopen, together with official South African distributor Rectron, has introduced its latest mini bare-bone system - the XC Cube EX915 Sporty, incorporating the Intel 915G chip set and LGA 775 CPU socket.

The XC Cube Sporty model is one of the first mini bare-bone systems to offer support for the new Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 3xx and 5xx-series CPUs, while incorporating the latest LGA775 CPU socket as well as an external bus speed of 533/800MHz.

AOpen`s Sporty forms part of whole range of XC Cubes that are available in different sizes and resultant functionalities, these include the Yuppy, AV Edition, XC Cube Mini, Expender & Tower series.

Despite its size, the appliance satisfies the demand for more power from VGA and PCI cards as it features a 275-Watt micro power supply. Also, and importantly, the XC Cube EX915 Sporty features a special heat sink that, among others, utilises four copper heat ducts to cool the CPU, a thin copper heat pipe with side-blowing fan, thus putting to rest overheating concerns.

"Despite its pricing and size, the XC Cube Sporty undoubtedly satisfies powerful computing needs, featuring industry-leading functionality that can definitely keep up with rest," comments Reon Coetzee, marketing manager of Rectron.

The XC Cube Sport features a built-in 5.1 Channel sound card, four S-ATA connectors, eight USB ports, three IEEE 1394 ports, two 3.5-inch hard-disc drive bays, and a 5.25-inch drive bay.
