ISDN solutions and Bluetooth connectivity continue to catch the IT consumer`s eye. The directors of IT communication and security specialist Biodata IT believe this connective technology remains hot property. Biodata IT`s AVM ISDN connective card and solution product offering reflects this viewpoint.
AVM is a German manufacturer of PC ISDN-controllers and ISDN application software. The company focuses on the connectivity between the PC and digital communication technologies including ISDN, ADSL and GSM.
Says Christian Runte, director at Biodata IT South Africa: "AVM technology has a solid reputation in Europe, particularly within the German market where it has enjoys a 78% share within the ISDN-controller market. The products are of superior quality and come with a five-year warranty, free service and support. We expect a strong reaction from the local market, particularly from the SME arena."
As a distributor to the local market, Biodata IT is poised for growth within this rapidly expanding market. The company is particularly interested in maximising off the reputation which AVM solutions and connective technology has already established abroad.
Runte refers to the Fritz!Card as an example of a cost-effective, easily managed, plug-and-play solution that enhances the business environment transforming the PC into an ISDN communications centre. The company also offers businesses the opportunity to take advantage of a number of ISDN applications including Alice PC-videoconferencing software and KEN! ISDN Internet and fax solution software for small networks.
Fellow director Ingrid Reimsh"ussel echoes this sentiment and believes the market is ripe for a player that can offer cost-effective, hassle-free connectivity.
"The South African market has a rapidly growing need for ISDN. This could be unlimited if prices, service and installation time would be more customer-friendly. Since Internet is very expensive compared to European countries, many companies are looking for a dial-up connection. ISDN offers the possibility to set up a connection with a bandwidth of 128Kbps as opposed to 56Kbps on a normal modem," she says.
Biodata IT recently launched its Bluetooth offering for ISDN in the form of BlueFRITZ - a wireless ISDN and Internet connection for PCs and notebooks. As the local market sinks its teeth into these rapidly converging technologies, Biodata IT believes it has the solutions that will be sought after.
All one has to do is simply plug the 47-gram access point into the ISDN line (there is no need for a separate wall mount or external power supply or configuration) and be ready to fly with blue tooth interconnectivity! The 3.9 by 10.6cm transparent AP-ISDN access point has transparent blue design and provides a standardised, secure wireless connection between distances of up to 100 meters.
