A WebEasy solution: The new ACSA Intranet takes off!

Johannesburg, 13 May 2006

FLUX took Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), Africa's leading airports authority, to new heights when we introduced their brand new website in 2003 and recently breathed new life into their corporate Intranet, with our WebEasy content management solution.

ACSA needed a brand new 'look and feel' for their Intranet as well as a platform to function as an effective and efficient communication channel both to and between their personnel.

Solomon Makgale, Communications Manager of ACSA explained: "Throughout the implementation of the project, FLUX demonstrated that they understood ACSA's online environment and knew how focused organisations such as ACSA can optimise employee communications. With their product WebEasy, I believe they provided ACSA with the best tool for the job, and most important of all - they really utilised their experience to benefit ACSA."

As the previous ACSA Intranet became more critical and complex, it was necessary to introduce innovative tools to automate content management and share crucial information and knowledge regarding the company and its business.

The revamped home page is a perfect example of how a structured Intranet provides relief to overloaded e-Mail distribution. Personnel are presented with an engaging and user-friendly landing page which acts as a springboard to the rest of the site.

Home page features include an updatable news and announcement section, corporate events calendar, local and global links, monthly message from the CEO, birthday reminders, a central document store, advanced search and a suggestion box to name but a few.

Shortcut links to forms and templates, telephone directory, training courses, projects, meeting rooms, FAQs, and member sections will allow users to drill down further into the site with minimal clicks. Added sub-navigation to the main sections on the Intranet enables the user to browse seamlessly through the important areas of the new site.

The WebEasy solution will allow users to access documents and forms from more than one location, as each unit or division has its own unique document store which can be updated without much effort.

Understanding the value of internal communication, the new Intranet features online questionnaires, opinion polls, discussion forums, training courses, and an online newsletter builder is available to all divisions.

From a usability point of view, the WebEasy solution enables non-technical users to add and edit content from all locations - ensuring content is always fresh. An automated workflow was introduced as most of the content had no owners. The new easy-to-use inline editor enables online publishers to maintain their own content by editing, publishing and archiving current and new content.

"The new Intranet will significantly enhance user self-service and communications, improving employee productivity. This will assist personnel to do their jobs and improve decision-making, while also enabling them to easily share and re-use group knowledge," says Werner le Roux, Managing Director of FLUX.

WebEasy is a locally developed Content Management System that is endorsed by Proudly South African. WebEasy is implemented by FLUX, a black-owned company and a member of Proudly South African, SAVANT and the SAEEC.
