A wide format for a digital future

Johannesburg, 26 Feb 2004

Acer`s new 17-inch wide-screen monitor, the AL1751WM, is designed to support the multifunctional needs of both the home entertainment and PC working worlds.

Over the past 12 months, the international market has seen LCD monitor prices drop quite significantly and, says Gary De Menezes, channel director at Acer, Acer`s brand of high-quality LCD screens is rapidly eating into the market share of traditional CRT monitor manufacturers. The company confirmed last year that its range of high-quality monitors is the fastest growing brand in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region and De Menezes believes the AL1751WM is set to continue this upward trend.

The LCD monitor supports a 16:9 aspect ratio for a comfortable and true home cinema experience and is equally suited for professionals who need to view multi-page layouts and additional toolbars on-screen.

"The AL1751WM offers a multifunctional slim design integrating digital DVI and S-Video interfaces for optimising all work and home entertainment applications, including gaming, video editing, creating DVDs, watching movies, ripping MPEG3 and desktop publishing," says De Menezes.

The monitor synchronises the high contrast ratio of 600:1 together with ultra brightness of 450 cd/m2 to reproduce dynamic colour and rich detail for gaming and standard text, as well as for TV applications when integrated with the optional Acer TV tuner.

The ultra-wide viewing angles of 170 degrees from all sides enable side-viewing of home movies or DVDs with a quality in parallel to a front view. A fast image response rate of 25ms complements the integrated digital interface and s-video interface, ensuring the best in action-packed and feature-rich gaming and movies.

The sleek and solid Acer design maximises the panel area with a thin bezel and ultra-slim design, enhancing the ambiance of any entertainment system or desk area.

"The AL1751WM is an ultra-bright digital window for multimedia fanatics or office users who appreciate a flexible solution that meets their needs today and in the future," concludes De Menezes.
