AAG embraces Fon TV

The Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG) has embraced the new broadcasting media in Ghana, reports Daily Guide Ghana.

The cream of Ghana's Advertising Executives on Thursday July 10 met with executives of Black Star Television-pioneers of Digital Mobile TV (FONTV) at their Broadcasting Multiplex at Nima in Accra.

The meeting focussed on the new medium of digital broadcasting technology available now to Ghanaian consumers and the opportunity it brings to advertisers to interact and engage consumers on a frequency that has never been realised before.

SLT, Broadcast Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the nation's number one integrated communications service provider, was the principal sponsor and total communication provider for Broadcast Sri Lanka 2008 - a Multimedia and Infotainment Technology Exhibition and Trade Fair held recently at the BMICH, says The Daily Mirror.

The purpose of the exhibition was to introduce and professionals in the broadcast industry, consumers as well as the general public on the modern and innovative technology and equipment used in the international arena.

Speaking on the significance of the exhibition, Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, Chairperson of SLT, said, "We take great pride in partnering this exhibition, which has attracted major players in the broadcasting equipment industry.

Dublin draws up broadcasting policy

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland is drawing up a policy for the introduction of Digital Audio Broadcasting, and though there is no end in sight for FM radio, most observers think the newer technology will prevail, reports The Irish Times.

Dublin has been trialling Dab stations since 2007 and most are duplicates of existing FM radio stations, including Radio 1, Radio Kerry, Newstalk and Today FM.

But there are eight stations exclusive to Dab, including RT'E's rolling news bulletins and 24/7 stations dedicated to golden oldies, rock and dance music. There is also the All 80s station and Mocha, which broadcasts RB and soul music.
