Abe Moloele appointed MD of Lava

Johannesburg, 12 Nov 2004

Lava Systems Africa, a BEE company in which Tshimong Investment Holdings is a 30% shareholder and which is also an affinity partner of Canadian-based Open Text Corporation, today announced the appointment of Abe Moloele as its Managing Director.

Moloele originally joined the IT industry via Burroughs Machines, in the early 1980s and has fulfilled a number of assignments since then across a variety of industries, including his own distribution business that was created in the 1990s. In 2002, Moloele, together with six other black professionals, established Tshimong Investment Holdings.

"I am a strong supporter of the vision of Open Text and the technologies and solutions they provide in the area of enterprise content management (ECM) I strongly believe that ECM and ECM solutions are the key technologies that will dominate the market over the next few years in a similar way that ERP has become paramount over the past two decades," commented Moloele.

"Thus, one of my key objectives is to establish Lava as a leader in the provision of ECM solutions and ECM consulting within southern Africa. We are already fortunate in having some of the top South African Livelink skills within the company as well as an individual who is rated as one of the top Livelink skills resource globally."

Moloele is still a director of Tshimong Investment Holdings, a group of black professionals that have recognised the need to combine their collective experience to address transformation requirements, while still creating value within the South African marketplace.

Mokati Ramphele, the General Manager of sub-Saharan Africa for Cisco, has also been appointed a non-executive director of Lava Systems Africa. He is also a director of Tshimong Investment Holdings.

Lava Systems

The Lava Systems Africa (Pty) Ltd team originated in the late 1990s with the objective of becoming a premier supplier of enterprise systems based around knowledge management, document management, records management, image management, scanning and workflow solutions. The emerging demands that were identified included government process re-engineering, supply chain co-ordination, customer relationship management, e-government and B2B processing. In support of these business aims, the technology platforms chosen had to enjoy a proven global track record and adhere to open Internet architecture standards and developments.

Lava Systems Africa is now a South African-based BEE company dedicated to the sales, marketing, support and consultancy based around the Livelink product from Open Text, a product that the staff have been involved with since 1998. Lava Systems Africa`s user base embraces customers from both the private and public sector and includes organisations such as Bateman Projects Limited, Alexander Forbes, the Gauteng Provincial Government and the National Social Security Fund of Uganda.
