Abraxas IT Services ISO certified

Abraxas IT Services Cape Town and Computer Appointments, divisions of Advanced Software Technologies-Abraxas (AST-A), have received ISO 9001 certification for conforming to the Quality Management code of practice as defined by the ISO. "The quality of any product or service and the management systems in place to assure it, are key elements in all successful organisations," says Mark Dale, MD of AST Cape. "The development of a quality culture ensures that all individuals share a mutual responsibility for promoting business excellence. Our policy statement is `Exceeding the expectation of internal and external customers`."

"While not guaranteeing the final output, it gives our clients the confidence that they are dealing with an organisation with a mature, applied approach to quality and delivering management which is compatible worldwide," explains Carol Mould, Project and Quality Management consultant at AST Cape. "The certification allows us to provide our clients with sound quality management practices, which have been audited and verified by the SABS, a member of ISO."

"As part of the process to maintain high standards, we will conduct regular internal audits every month in order to make sure the practices are applied correctly and kept up to date," continues Mould. "We keep statistics of these audits and of all improvements made to the Quality Management System."

The SABS will also conduct regular external audits at their discretion, at 6-month intervals, in order to verify the continuing compliance with ISO 9001 standards.

"At Abraxas IT Services and Computer Appointments, we have strong management commitment and staff buy-in towards quality management," concludes Mould. "We saw the ISO 9001 certification process as an opportunity to formalise, improve and maintain good quality management practices, and not just as a once-off exercise of obtaining the ISO certification."
