Absa customers get cutting-edge security software free of charge

Absa will provide the latest version of Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security Version 14 to its more than 650 000 Internet banking customers free of charge. Designed to combat unpredictable malicious threats like phishing, spyware, spam, hackers, viruses, and more, PC-cillin Internet Security offers home computer users more comprehensive security in an automated, easy-to-use package.

Valued at R484.50, the latest version combines new anti-phishing security with enhanced anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-spam protection, providing users with real-time defence against online fraud and identity theft.

Advanced home network protection, such as greater parental controls, personal firewall capabilities, WiFi security against hackers, and centralised management provide parents with greater assurance that their home computing environment`s security is up-to-date and their families are safe when they`re online.

PC-cillin Internet Security`s enhanced features counter the rising concerns resulting from various unpredictable threats. According to a recent Trend Micro study, more than one-third of home computer users with anti-virus protection believe they have been the victim of a malicious attack, such as spyware, virus or spam. The findings validate the need for users to install more comprehensive multi-threat protection at home.

"Working, playing, or doing business online have each become a part of our everyday lives," says Christo Vrey, General Manager, Digital Channel Services at Absa.

"Unfortunately, security threats are evolving and becoming more unpredictable, creating significant challenges for computer users at home. With Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security, users can work online with the peace of mind that their systems, and their children`s systems, are up-to-date and protected from harm."

"We are delighted that Absa have confirmed our faith in the capabilities of the Trend product and have chosen to satisfy for their requirements," added Dean Brazier, MD of SecureData, the local distributor of Trend Micro PC-cillin. "We look forward to working closely with Absa regarding this and other initiatives over the coming months."

Absa Internet banking customers can register for the required serial number on the Absa Web site and download the software or get the CDs from 15 August 2006 at any of Absa`s 750 branches countrywide.
