The Orlando Children's Home in Soweto will soon be connected to the Internet, following Absa's move to provide the orphanage with WiFi.
In a statement, Absa says it will also donate six computers to the orphanage.
Absa notes the WiFi and computers are to help boost the orphanage's media centre and allow the children to gain better Internet access.
Oscar Siziba, provincial head of Absa Business Banking in Gauteng, says: "Absa is delighted to be making a difference to the lives of these children. We believe that every child should have access to good quality, affordable Internet."
He adds: "By enabling a wireless environment, these children will have access to a world of information and knowledge that will enhance their lives and change the way they live, play and learn."
According to the bank, its support of Orlando Children's Home forms part of a commitment to raise R100 000 per annum for three years to uplift the lives of the children at the orphanage.
