The Web Hosting industry recently suffered a major setback after popular software vendor cPanel announced dramatic changes to its licensing model.
Previously, all cPanel hosting providers were charged per licence, based on the number of servers or VPS servers running cPanel. Now, the new pricing structure, effective from 1 September 2019, bills per account hosted on a cPanel-powered server. This change has resulted in a 300%-plus increase in cost to hosting providers.
In response to the announcement by cPanel, Absolute Hosting acted swiftly and launched DirectAdmin Hosting services, a cPanel alternative.
Absolute Hosting launched a public beta of its new DirectAdmin Hosting services and invited its own Hosting Resellers and MyBroadBand community members to participate in a two-month trial of the service.
During the trial, beta testers were encouraged to report back on their findings and make suggestions which would assist them better in converting from cPanel to DirectAdmin. The feedback received was outstanding.
The majority of beta testers found that DirectAdmin provided a streamlined approach to managing hosting services in comparison to its counterpart, along with increased performance.
Web site response speeds increased by up to 50% and Time to first byte (TTFB) tests fell within the sub-20 millisecond response time.
After completing a successful beta test of its DirectAdmin Linux Hosting, Absolute Hosting launched its new DirectAdmin Hosting services. These include free SSL Certificates, free Website Builder, Litespeed Web Server powered by Dual Intel XEON CPU SuperMicro Servers with Enterprise SSD RAID, and daily backups.
End-user Linux hosting prices start from as little as R5.00 per month + Reseller Linux hosting from as little as R95 per month.
