Accelio Corporation, a provider of Web-enabled business process solutions represented locally by Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI), has announced that its Capture ReachForm can now be accessed equally by all users, including the visually impaired - anytime, anywhere, with zero download or plug-ins.
Capture ReachForm is an intelligent data capture solution that enables organisations to meet government accessibility requirements around the world.
Using the Web is a serious challenge for blind and visually impaired workers in the public and private sectors worldwide. With the enhanced accessibility features of Capture ReachForm, another Web communications barrier has been eliminated for tens of millions of blind and visually impaired workers and users.
They can now complete Web-based forms, such as job applications, reports, expense forms and university applications, regardless of their operating equipment and without sighted assistance.
"Making technology accessible to all users is a responsibility that organisations have to consider," says Johan Cloete, CEO of GBI. "Accelio has shown its commitment to providing equal access and opportunity to users with disabilities through its Verbal-eyes technology, and now with the addition of accessible Web-based forms, the solutions open doors and offer users greater independence."
In terms of accessibility technology, Capture ReachForm works easily with screen readers, speech-to-text-programs, magnification programs and virtual keyboards. When activated by a visually impaired user, a unique form transformation known as accessible HTML (aHTML) changes the format of the electronic form from its typical left to right, top to bottom configuration to a vertical column making it easier to navigate and complete forms.
"Since the acquisition of Verbal-eyes technology in 2001, Accelio has demonstrated its continuing commitment to extending all of its solutions to users of accessible technology," says Cloete.
According to the South African Council for the Blind, 70% to 90% of working age blind people in the country are unemployed. The ability to complete forms without sighted assistance would enhance independence and job opportunities for blind and visually impaired people. In addition, people with disabilities could have the opportunity to become tax producers instead of tax recipients.
"With the aHTML transformation Accelio has taken its accessibility solutions a step further by providing organisations with the technology to offer all their users unlimited Web access to electronic forms," says Cloete.
