Accenture, the global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company, is planning to expand into another seven African countries.
Adedotun Sulaiman, country MD for Nigeria, has been named as the group`s lead partner for growth on the continent.
"Accenture is taking a sober, slow and steady approach to a very challenging continent," he says. "While there is much business to be done, we need to ensure that it is good business which will ensure sustainable benefits for the African economy, while it must also be commercially viable for us."
Sulaiman says the group, which has offices in Lagos and Johannesburg, is not planning to set up new offices.
"At this point we are putting plans in place to build our brand on the continent and we will use local partners and alliances to bolster our presence where appropriate."
The group will initially target seven countries where it does not already have a presence: Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Angola, Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
"We have a number of new initiatives under way already and we hope to report significant growth in the near future. The group is prospecting clients or pursuing specific opportunities in Ghana, Ethiopia, Namibia and Tunisia, he says.
