The Accenture Insights Platform will help businesses harness and use the diverse data sources that they have at their disposal, says Accenture's Suren Govender.

Accenture has introduced the Accenture Insights Platform, a cloud-based solution, which it says is designed to simplify analytics and deliver real-time, actionable insights to businesses.

According to Accenture, the platform is a flexible analytics-as-a-service solution designed to help a range of business users make data-driven decisions that can solve business issues and create new opportunities.

The platform has a preconfigured, industrialised architecture that can be provisioned within 24 hours and generate initial actionable analytics insights in weeks, as opposed to conventional approaches that can take months, the company says.

Centralised cloud management capabilities are provided through the Accenture Cloud Platform.

Suren Govender, MD at Accenture Analytics SA, says the Accenture Insights Platform allows organisations to get actionable insights using a pay-as-you-use model.

"With the industrial Internet of things creating and opportunities at a swift pace, the Accenture Insights Platform helps businesses use that data and become insight-powered enterprises," he says.

According to Govender, South African businesses have traditionally been slower in adopting disruptive technologies like cloud and analytics. However, he notes, there is now a build-up of activity among business leaders as they recognise the critical advantage that analytics-as-a-service offers.

"Although businesses are starting to explore the benefits of generating actionable insights, the rate of adoption and investment is still low."
