Asyst International SA today announced that Access Accounting Ltd has won the off-the-shelf software package of the year award for its Foundations XP product, at the UK industry`s biggest awards night - the Accountancy Age awards for excellence.
The event was held at the Natural History Museum in London, and hosted by Meera Syal, the comedy actress from BBC`s Goodness Gracious Me.
The Foundations XP solution was launched in July 2001 with a specific emphasis on ease of use, functionality and price, and was designed to give accountants in practice a choice of product to recommend at the entry level.
The judges praised Foundations XP because it is easy to install, easy to learn and easy to use. Writing in Accountancy Age the judges were particularly impressed with the forward thinking demonstrated by Access. They felt this was evident in the way Foundations integrates fully with recently released Microsoft Office XP software and makes full use of Microsoft Smart Tag technology.
Access was also short-listed for its Dimensions (Client/Server) Solution in the Mid-Range category, making it the only software vendor to be nominated for two awards.
The judges commented: " Access gives you the chance to change to another product within its organisation, giving users the opportunity to retain familiarity with the basic principles." They were also impressed with the quality and availability of support to Foundations XP users, something that is far from standard in the entry-level marketplace.
Access Managing Director Alistair O`Reilly said: "In a recent accountants` survey we were said to lead the mid-range market and now we are told we have the best product at entry level. This has been a very successful year for Access and it is all down to Head Office team, our resellers nationwide and all our worldwide partners. They are the true secret of our success."
