The Synergy Holdings Group has announced the six winners of its middle-market accounting software awards for 1998. The winners are Microsoft South Africa, Great Plains Africa, Keyfile Corporation, Peresoft Software & Support, and LA Technology. This was the first time the awards were presented, but according to Patrick Toolan, Synergy Holdings Group director, it is planned as an annual event.
The awards are thought to be unique in South Africa. Criteria for the six categories include relevance to the sector and the local market, current and future impact, market response and channel support. Any company delivering business-related service or product to the middle-market qualifies for an award.
Toolan says the industry responded "incredibly well" to the awards, adding that key participants will be involved in the future evaluation of nominations.
The awards were established because Synergy Holdings felt that participation in the sector had generally gone unrecognised. "It was about time that the participation and value of the middle-market accounting and business solution sector was recognised and rewarded."
Great Plains Africa was the overall winner for 1998, walking away with two awards, one for overall achievement and a second for local market commitment." The other winners were Microsoft SA in the best product category for Microsoft SQL Server 7; Keyfile Corporation for Keyflo in the best value-added product category; Peresoft Software in the best local product catagory for its Cashbook for Accpac; and LA Technology in the market innovation catagory for its ACCPAC Information Technology Program.
Synergy Holdings is a Randburg-based company, specialising in accounting software and associated solutions. The group is made up of six companies, covering IT from sales and support to e-commerce and training. An independent consulting company established by Synergy Holdings is responsible for determining a fair basis for the bestowing of awards.
