At the recent ACCPAC International Partnership Conference held in Dallas, ACCPAC Business Partners were exposed to a multitude of products that extend and enhance the core ACCPAC business solutions. ACCPAC products are solely distributed in South Africa by LA Technology.
"Most exciting of all are the specialist products offering business solutions, which extend ACCPAC into areas such as manufacturing, warehouse management, job/project costing, service management and more, enabling ACCPAC to offer an effective ERP solution," says LA Technology MD Jeremy Waterman.
As ERP systems have become more actively marketed, vendors have tended to adopt the approach that they can give it all - rather than any Best of Breed approach. "This has been driven to some extent by the fact that many traditional Best of Breed solutions resulted in disparate systems running on different databases and even different operating systems.
"The problem with ERP systems is that customers are forced to accept a bundle of solutions from a single vendor and, with due respect, it is unlikely that any single vendor can develop all the best solutions," observes Waterman.
"Since the early days of ACCPAC Plus for DOS, ACCPAC has encouraged development of ACCPAC Companion products.
With the move to ACCPAC for Windows this policy of working with specialist third party developers has been continued. While the complexity of the Windows development world has meant that these solutions have taken some time to come to market, many of these ERP solutions are now available," he says.
ACCPAC for Windows` sophisticated object orientated architecture now offers developers many more options as to how they wish to integrate to the core products, options ranging from Microsoft`s COM enablement and VBA hosting, to development from within ACCPAC`s views using the SDK.
"Customers will be pleasantly surprised that the ACCPAC solutions offer a superior edge at a fraction of the price of traditional ERP solutions, thanks to the open architecture design of modern business products and the abundance of development skills for these platforms," concludes Waterman.
