Acer Technology Venture has bought a 20% stake in Singapore security software company I-Sprint Innovations, and has launched the company`s information security offerings in SA.
The I-Sprint information security range addresses internal and external security threats. SA is the first country outside of Asia to launch the range, but other launches are planned around the world soon.
"Acer in Africa is progressively moving towards offering a total solution and thus cannot neglect application security and technology infrastructure security," says Peter Ibbotson, chairman of Acer Africa.
I-Sprint co-founder and CEO Albert Ching, who is visiting SA to introduce the range, says the universal trend is for companies to become proactive in their information security. However, securing all applications can be costly and complex.
The I-Sprint range includes a universal sign-on (USO) and an integrated access management product, AccessMatrix, to meet the administration, authentication, authorisation and audit needs of security-sensitive environments.
USO is described as a non-intrusive approach that enables organisations to achieve single sign-on to in-house applications and packaged software without source code changes. Its server-based approach eliminates the need for installing software and scripts on the client workstation for single sign-on application.
The AccessMatrix system provides centralised authentication, authorisation and audit services across multiple business applications and enterprise resources.
I-Sprint`s offerings are scalable, but are typically aimed at larger enterprises, financial services and government.
