Acer improves decision-making, slashes costs with CA`s AllFusion and Advantage tools

Computer Associates International, Inc (CA) today announced that the Taiwan tech-sector leader Acer Inc has deployed CA`s Advantage Data Transformer Enterprise Metadata Edition, AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler, and AllFusion Model Manager to build a state-of-the-art "Think Tank" for managing its global business interests. The new system provides accurate, real-time information for critical decision-making and is saving the company approximately NT$10 million (more than US$300 000) in travel expenses annually.

Acer`s "Think Tank" enables senior executives to quickly apprehend, visualise and analyse information about company activities and business processes. The facility`s multi-point conferencing, auditing and decision-support capabilities also substantially reduce Acer`s international travel expenses.

The accuracy and timeliness with which Acer can gather, organise, and present this information was achieved by combining the rich functionality of three of CA`s most innovative information management solutions:

* AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler, which provides centralised management for business process models and physical data models, ensuring the integrity and security of those models for efficient information sharing.

* AllFusion Model Manager, a scalable multi-user modelling environment that allows modellers to work together efficiently.

* Advantage Data Transformer Enterprise Metadata Edition, which provides access to, transformation of, and loading of data from diverse sources.

In addition to delivering information from diverse sources in intuitive formats that can be easily understood and customised, the Think Tank system uses simple green and red signals to alert Acer executives to the status of key business indicators.
