Acer - the world`s third largest PC manufacturer - is expanding its presence in Africa with the appointment of an authorised Acer reseller in Zambia.
According to Ronald de Almeida, Acer`s export manager responsible for sub-Equatorial Africa, Lusaka-based Computer Connections has the infrastructure in place to support Acer`s high-end notebooks, servers and desktop commercial and home PCs as well as its monitors and Windows based terminals.
"Acer users in Zambia have not had access to an official Acer representative locally for the past two years. We are confident that Computer Connections will successfully fulfil this role as the company meets Acer`s stringent requirements in terms of its ability to offer technical support as well as marketing and sales services.
"Indeed, as a leading PC reseller in Zambia, we believe Computer Connections will ensure that Acer soon takes its place as a leading brand in that country," he adds.
Rajiv Dewan, MD of Computer Connections says he is delighted to be representing Acer in Zambia.
"Africa is often regarded as a 'dumping ground` for obsolete technologies. Now, with our close association with Acer, Zambian businesspeople and home users will have access to the latest, high-quality, internationally branded equipment at a competitive price," he says.
Acer`s official entry to the Zambian market will be marked by a launch function at the five-star Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka on May 3, 2000. A wide range of Acer products will be displayed at the launch, including Acer`s multiple award-winning TravelMate notebook PCs, Acer Altos servers, Acer Power commercial PCs and the popular Acer Aspire home PC.
