Google is testing the service in Austin, Texas, and is the RFID stickers to business owners to help connect them to consumers. Businesses will be able to advertise their products and services using RFID technology tied to Google Search for local information.

Identive's share price went up a hefty 30% to $3.47 during regular trading after ACIG Technology the deal with Google, states American Banking News.

Beacon Equity Research says according to Bernardo Hernandez, senior director of consumer marketing of Google, near field communications (NFC) are an important part of the company's outreach efforts to local businesses.

Roger Hornstra, president ACIG Technology US, adds that as a manufacturer and distributor of core RFID technology, the company believes smart posters are expected to be a tremendous growth area in business to consumer marketing.

Consumers with NFC-enabled mobile phones who have downloaded the Google Places app can touch their devices to the stickers to access information about a local business from across the Web, according to Globe Newswire.

Consumers can rate or review the business from the Web page on the mobile device, and then receive personalised local recommendations in their search results based on their opinions and those of their friends.
