Acogito, a personal media entertainment carrier company, today announced the world`s first integrated PVR service called AcoService, utilising the company`s patented Remote Control eXtensible Markup Language (RCXML).
Combined with the company`s dual tuner SD/HD PVR product (AcoBox), the AcoService allows consumers to enjoy (i) an IP-based, contents streaming service to mobile phone or PC (AcoTV), (ii) a CRM-based, recording agent service (AcoChannel), and (iii) a patented RCXML-based, remote scheduling service (AcoRemote).
"Now through our AcoService, any time can be your prime time, and any place can be your living room," said Jason Chung, PhD, Acogito`s President and CEO. "I believe that consumers, as the world moves rapidly into the ubiquitous era, will require an integrated service connecting between CE devices at home and mobile devices anywhere through the Internet. And among the CE devices, the PVR is the best killer application for such an integrated service."
AcoTV utilises a MPEG4 encoder hardware module incorporated into a PVR to stream live or pre-recorded TV contents to any mobile phone or PC. On the other hand, a RCXML-based software module, enabling AcoChannel, AcoRemote and other basic services such as EPG, HDD management, etc, can be directly implemented into a PVR set without any additional hardware cost. The AcoService is offered with a purchase of any AcoBox PVR free of monthly charge for a limited time, which can be renewable every six months.
One of the most innovative features provided by AcoService is the AcoChannel, in which our CRM automatically schedules remote recording of your favourites into your PVR as you continue to use scheduled recording. Whenever you feel tired of searching programs of your interests, you just click the ACO BUTTON on your remote controller to access AcoChannel, which most likely contains your favourite programs. AcoChannel service will be available in the EMEA region from January 2007.
The company has also completed the development of the universal device module (called AcoModule), which converts any PVR/STB with different platforms, operating systems and reception methods to an AcoService-enabled AcoBox in order to globally extend the AcoService.
