Active Voice announces general availability of Kinesis 3.0

Next-generation flagship enterprise solution offers new and enhanced features for intelligent messaging.
Johannesburg, 23 Oct 2007

Active Voice, a global provider of voice mail, unified communications and speech-activated solutions, represented exclusively in South Africa by Centratel, has announced the release of its next-generation flagship enterprise unified messaging (UM) system, Kinesis 3.0.

"This banner release of our Kinesis product illustrates our commitment to delivering a rich yet user-friendly UM application that customers can quickly adopt at their own pace," said Eyal Inbar, General Manager of Marketing at Active Voice.

"For a long time, UM applications have been very complex to use and to integrate into existing legacy systems. Now with Kinesis 3.0, users can enjoy the ultimate convenience of a highly innovative product that simplifies business communications from implementation, deployment and execution," said Michael Aitken, managing director of the Centratel Group of companies.

New features in Kinesis 3.0 include:

VideoMail: Allows users to record and playback voice and video messages in the Outlook client; users can choose to create a video with a camera or record an animated screen capture, or both; audio captured during video recording can be played back via telephone.

ViewCall: Provides desktop call control and visibility of live incoming calls with a simple, easy-to-use control panel.

Find Me Follow Me: Allows users to customise call routes that they determine significant, based on their individual scenarios (ie, while in a meeting, a phone call from a user`s manager will always ring while an external phone call may go immediately to voice mail).

Tools Studio: New tool options that make it easier to maintain the system.

Integration with Mitel IP systems, NEC 2400, NEC MA4000, Aimworx and SV7000 PBX systems.

Krithi Rao, Enterprise Communication Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan, forecasts that UM products such as Active Voice`s Kinesis 3.0 are poised to become one of the key components of a total communication solution for customers of any size and vertical market.

"With some of the enhanced features that are being introduced in Kinesis 3.0, the solution will help companies streamline communications and business workflow for both the remote and increasingly mobile work force," said Rao.

"The introduction of VideoMail as an integrated component of Kinesis 3.0 demonstrates Active Voice`s drive to differentiate and to be one of the first with innovative applications in the market. Such innovation is essential going forward for messaging companies to establish a presence in the competitive unified communications arena," continued Aitken.

The flexible architecture of the system helps to minimise installation, administration, and maintenance costs, thereby lowering an organisation`s total cost of ownership and making processes easier for system administrators.

"With Kinesis 3.0, customers now have the option of either starting basic or scaling back when needed. Kinesis can be deployed as a voice mail only solution at locations where UM is not required," said Daniel Vlad, General Manager of Engineering at Active Voice.

"Companies requiring a more fully featured UM system that fits into their communication environment, and for organisations that experience heavy message traffic, Kinesis 3.0 can be installed and set up to harness the power and reliability of existing communication systems to provide simplified administration, a single directory service and a single message store," continued Vlad.

Kinesis 3.0 delivers a wide range of messaging and mobility features that help companies streamline communications and business workflow. The next-generation Kinesis system provides convenient access to voice, fax and e-mail messages from the phone, Microsoft Outlook client, or browser, helping to improve employee productivity and maximise collaboration.
