Siltek Telecoms, the master distributor of Active Voice, has announced that the Seattle-based vendor is the first company to demonstrate true unified messaging for Microsoft`s Exchange 2000 Server, beta 3 (previously code-named `Platinum`).
The demonstrations, held at the fourth annual Microsoft Exchange Conference in Atlanta, feature an upcoming version of Unity, Active Voice`s unified messaging communications server. This provides native support for the Exchange 2000 messaging and collaboration platform, and Microsoft Active Directory-running on Windows 2000 Server RC2.
Johann Engelbrecht, product manager at Siltek Telecoms, says, "With Unity, our partners and customers will be able to leverage the significant investment Microsoft is making in Exchange 2000 in the areas of reliability, availability, and scalability for enterprise messaging and collaboration."
"This is a further demonstration of the enormous value of Active Voice`s investment in building Unity from scratch for true unified messaging," says Michael Aitken, managing director of Siltek Telecoms. "In addition to being one of only three companies that delivers true unified messaging in any form, Active Voice is the first company to publicly demonstrate its readiness to leverage Exchange 2000 as a native platform. Unity`s architecture is the key to its flexibility and market responsiveness."
Exchange 2000 is a key element of Microsoft`s knowledge management platform initiatives, designed to provide powerful messaging and collaboration services for accessing and sharing information among enterprise knowledge workers, customers, and partners. Unity further increases knowledge worker productivity by making the telephone an integral tool for all forms of messaging and by allowing users to manage voice and fax messages at the desktop using Microsoft Outlook. In addition, customers deploying Unity enjoy operational cost savings in administration, network deployment, end-user training and support.
