Active Voice's Unity Enterprise, the Windows NT based unified messaging server, was named "Best of Show" at Microsoft Tech. 2000 by Windows 2000 publication.
This is according to Michael Aitken, MD of specialist telecommunications distributor, Siltek Telecoms, who says, "The award marks the second time this year that an Active Voice unified communications solution was honoured by this award from Windows 2000, one of the industry's leading publications."
As the local distributor of Active Voice, Aitken explains that that Unity 2.3 was selected because of its true unified messaging solution that integrates well with Microsoft Exchange and BackOffice applications.
"The solution supports approximately 150 telephone systems and functions well in PBX, (pure) IP, and hybrid network environments," continues Aitken. "The "Best of Show" award reflects the industry's recognition of Unity Enterprise as a unified communications server with proven value and technical leadership in its category."
"Unity's popularity is based on it being a vital communications tool that saves on administration and operational costs, improves customer service, provides user-friendly functionality and enhances corporate image," he adds.
Unity Enterprise delivers every voice, fax and e-mail message to a single client inbox-such as Microsoft Outlook, giving you the option to access and manage your messages from a PC, telephone or the Internet. It harnesses the power of Exchange as a unified messaging platform, offering easy scalability and large port capacity to meet the needs of expanding enterprises.
The solution is an industry first as it is able to support Windows 2000 and provide true, native Internet Protocol (IP) telephony integration for unified messaging. It connects to IP-PBXs through a single Ethernet cable.
"Because Unity eliminates additional hardware costs, it is significantly easier and more cost-effective than other IP-ready products that require traditional voice boards in the messaging server, legacy circuit and SMDI interface support on the IP-PBX," concludes Aitken.
