ACTNET, an established authorised Solimar Systems distributor in South Africa, has announced the release of the PDF/A conversion module as part of Solimar Print Director Enterprise (SPDE) version 7.5. The module expands PDF output options to include multiple versions of PDF/A to address long-term archival requirements and improved document accessibility.
The new version helps organisations with large volumes of PDFs to archive important data and can help people with disabilities who use assistive technologies (such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, joysticks and other tools) to navigate and read electronic transactional content like invoices, financial statements and insurance policies.
According to Nolan Sandham, Managing Director of ACTNET: "One benefit of PDF/A is to allow users with disabilities to gain a more reliable way to interact with digital content."
He adds that by leveraging PDF/A, reader software can now reflow text onto small screens, provide powerful navigation options, transform text appearance, improve search engine functionality, aid in the selection and copying of text, and more.
Customers who purchase SPDE, a software solution that provides print stream conversions for production print and electronic delivery environments, can now leverage the power and flexibility of PDF/A to expand their PDF-centric workflows. The new module will enable organisations to easily produce PDF/A output for their archiving needs in an automated workflow at the speeds required for high-volume transactional environments.
The Solimar PDF/A Module will accept PDF input files and output any of the following versions:
* PDF/A-1a
* PDF/A-1b
* PDF/A-2a
* PDF/A-2b
* PDF/A-2u
* PDF/A-3a
* PDF/A-3b
* PDF/A-3u
When combined with SPDE's other conversion modules, PDF/A output is now supported from most production print streams, including LCDS, Metacode, IPDS, AFPDS, Xerox VIPP, PCL and PostScript.
The Solimar product line enables thousands of organisations around the world to easily expand and control their enterprise output management processes by providing robust data transforms, device optimisations, document re-engineering, e-presentment and workflow tracking. Building on a 22-year history of successful technology development, the PDF: PDF/A Module further demonstrates Solimar's continued commitment to delivering powerful output management solutions for its clients.
