Adapt IT has entered into a partnership with Ventyx, a company owned by ABB. The move extends Adapt IT into the power and automation sectors.
It says in a statement that the move takes it further in its "quest" to provide solutions to its African clients who work in energy and utility. The listed ICT company, which has been targeting the continent for growth, has customers in 20 countries in the manufacturing, higher education and financial services sectors.
Ventyx's enterprise resource planning software solutions are designed to "bridge the gap" between IT and operational technologies, says Adapt IT. ABB provides power and automation technology solutions.
Johan Engelbrecht, Ventyx's sales VP for Africa, says the partnership has aided Ventyx in growing sales and support potential for its product in key Southern African markets.
Adapt IT is looking for more opportunities to deploy Ventyx solutions in energy and utilities markets, it says. It is accredited to provide local support for companies considering Ventyx solutions.
"We look forward to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership with Ventyx and to include the Ventyx solution offering into our product portfolio," says Adapt IT CEO Sbu Shabalala.
In the year to June, Adapt IT grew revenue by 36%, to R306 million, while earnings per share grew 27%, to 22.25c. Headline earnings per share, which strips out unusual items and is seen as a key indicator, gained 28%, to 22.27c.
At the time, it said it was ready for a merger with a company that is like-minded and about the same size, as it had amalgamated its business units. Adapt IT's growth strategy has always included mergers and acquisitions, but it has historically focused on adding smaller units to the company to grow its offerings.
