Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC) has launched its Enterprise Value Added Reseller (EVAR) programme in SA to make its high-end storage area network (SAN) technology accessible to the local market.
Interest for ADIC high-end products, such as the Scalar 10K, AMASS software and SAN products, prompted the introduction of the enterprise VAR programme as a delivery mechanism.
ADIC territory manager for Middle East and Africa, Christo Conidaris says: "Implementation and support of this technology requires specialised skills, and we have approached key partners who have committed to investing in the necessary training and certification."
ADIC is currently in talks with two partners - SmartStor and Datacentrix.
Conidaris believes the high levels of local interest - primarily in the Scalar 10K - are largely due to its total cost of ownership benefits.
"It provides capacity on demand, allowing customers to reduce up-front capital expenditure," he says.
The ADIC Scalar 10K platform is delivered with extra capacity already installed, allowing IT departments to immediately access additional capacity as needed, through a non-disruptive software command.
ADIC regional sales director Steve Mackey says: "It`s the first enterprise tape library designed to grow in tandem with rapidly-moving IT storage requirements by letting users pay for storage only as they use it."
The EVAR programme will provide certification for enterprise storage libraries, including Scalar 10K and AML tape libraries, as well as SAN certification for ADIC Pathlight technology. Software certification for ADIC software products will follow.
Existing distributors will continue to focus on the mid-range Scalar and FastStor product lines, supplying them through the reseller channel.
